I've done this before, first you press CTRL+ALT+F6 and Ark Linux should 
give you a command line, type in arklinux at the login, if it asks you 
for a password and you didn't set one then just try pressing enter. The 
next thing to do is type in "su" and press enter, then type in "init 3" 
and X will be stopped and then all you need to do is go to the folder 
where the nvidia driver installation program is and run it, then you can 
reconfigure Xorg with "xorgconfig" and then you can either restart X by 
typing in "init 5" or what I do at this point is restart the computer 
altogether with "shutdown -r now". If you chose to return to X using 
"init 5" then you should also press CTRL+ALT+F6 again to return to the 
console, press enter if you don't have a prompt because of the text from 
the init command and then type in "exit" and press enter again, after 
that you can press CTRL+ALT+F7 to return to X.

I know my instructions aren't great, if you don't understand them I'm 
sure someone else in here will be able to clarify or provide you with 
new instructions if mine are really that bad. Before trying to install 
the nvidia drivers though make sure you have the kernel source code 
installed, this is usually in an rpm package called kernel-source in 
most distributions.
