I was just sent this: ----------------------- Hello Matthew I just spotted your name and email on the Aurora FAQ document and just wanted to ask you a couple of questions. I own and run <snip> and I am in the process of building out the server infrastructure. I'm actually proposing to set up an 8 * 400MHz processor E4500 (5GB RAM) running Aurora Linux. It will also have an A5000 fully loaded disk array. It will be the main MySQL database and message application server for my company, with separate web servers for HTTP traffic. My questions are: 1) Do you know of any problems with E4500 or A5000 machines and Aurora? 2) I have access to an expert on Linux on Sparc called <snip>. He will be setting up the machine but do you know of anyone else based here in the UK can help support a machine like this with Aurora on a commercial basis. Relying on a single supplier make me a little nervous Many thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. Regards <snip> ------------------- Before I reply, I would like to check on something. As far as I know this is bigger iron than aurora has been run on, and also I don't think the A5000 is supported. Also how current is auroras security errata? Also I am curious, I didn't realise there were UK linux sparc specialists :) my we are popular. Much power to us, this is certainly a serious commercial deployment, and a validation of a lot of hard work by many dedicated people. (You know who you are).
