Sorry, misunderstanding - I'm actually sitting in front of the machine, i.e. with monitor and keyboard. The strange thing is just that the text mode *on the monitor* looks as if it was running via serial console, i.e. black and white, no graphics (well, bad ASCII graphics) and suchlike. Monitor and keyboard were connected right from the start, so the U5 should have had no reason to believe it was running via serial. > > - I'm missing 'gv' - did I just fail to see it or has it been removed? > > If the latter: What is supposed to be a replacement as a postscript > > viewer? > > You're looking for ggv. Ah, interesting, thanks! Looks a bit like overkill compared to plain ol' gv, but on the other hand it uses gtk themes, which makes it look nicer with WindowMaker... :-) Just a pity that you seem to *have* to install Gnome to do just about anything these days... :-/ Cheerio, Thomas -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thomas Ribbrock http://www.ribbrock.org "You have to live on the edge of reality - to make your dreams come true!"
