HME resolved... at least for now.

Ok, so I'm a moron.  Perhaps, when the kernel says "Link has been forced up
using internal transceiver at 10Mb/s, Half Duplex", maybe I should pay
attention to what it says?  It turns out that there's another similarity
between the E450 at work and the U2 at home.. both were connected to 10Mb
switches (with a 100Mb upstream).  I also know that even under Solaris I had
to dork with the autonegotiation with these cards, as they don't like to
work with other things...

I tried forcing the card to 10Mb Full (since it's a switch, I assumed it'd
be able to do full) with ethtool.  Didn't reset, but was jumpy.  Realized
that the POS switch can only do half duplex on the 10Mb ports.. (which is
one of the main reasons why I was using the switch instead of a hub).  So, I
just swapped the switch out for a 10/100 hub, forced the card to 100Mb half,
and it seems pretty rock solid.. I'll update if this changes, but I haven't
been able to crash it yet...  I'll close the bug if it's still solid in a
few hours...

Moral of the story:  1) Don't trust auto-negotiate on Sun hardware, and 2)
Make sure your networking is decent (aka, don't trust crap from Bay
Networks)
