On my machine at work, the LNX-BBC gives strange errors (e.g., garbage
is printed for the IDE information during kernel boot, and fdisk -l
can't read the partition tables and fails).  I believe this is due to
kernel incompatibility with a particular chipset; nobody has been able
to reproduce it on another machine.

When I can, I'll note here what that chipset is, and try to test other
kernel versions to see if they're more compatible.

Dave did some work to attempt to correct this problem and requested
(in April 2003) confirmation that it fixed the bug.  Confirmation was
never given, bug is assumed fixed.
