bug#363: failing to unmount filesystems at shutdown

Severity: grave

When I do "shutdown -r now" or "reboot", etc., I get a series of
errors about a failure to unmount various mounted filesystems (even
though I didn't manually mount _any_ filesystems). The reboot
succeeds, but the errors are somewhat distressing.
