What does it all mean?

When I pop in my FSF Associate Membership card to boot into LNX-BBC, I get this upon startup:
hdc cdrom_decode_status: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdc cdrom_decode_status: error=0x34
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 80xxx
...where xxx keeps increasing.
It doesn't seem to stop. Any take on this? Do I have a damaged CD?
