Did you try starting lnx-bbx with the "prompt" option.  From the 
boot line type something like "1 prompt".  At that point you
get to control the boot process at a reasonably fine level.  I
suggest saying no to starting "discover".  My guess is that 
auto-probing is tweaking something in your machine causing the 
boot to fail.
