IRQs 14 and 15 are reserved for used by your IDE adapters. However
since some motherboards only have one IDE chain it may be that one of
these IRQs is either marked available for use when it shouldn't be
(check your CMOS), assigned to automatic use by your PCI channels (check
your CMOS), or available as a jumpered option on a fairly new card to
your system (either PCI or ISA). Video has its own interrupt so it's
verrrry unlikely to be the culprit; ethernet are especially suspect
but it could be anything after that.

When was the last time your system was booting safely? Maybe there's
some clue in that.

It has been a long time since my PC booted without errors I guess. About 2 or 3 weeks ago it used to take 9 minutes to boot !! So, I recently ran bootlog analyser and it gave several errors. I removed a few old devices no longer in use. Now it is booting better. However, there are still several error messages. I tried asking for help but didn't get any. After the fix, my PC started booting in 2 to 3 minutes. So, I decided to forgot the issue. Any solutions in this regard welcome.

How do I check my CMOS ? What do I check for ? If there is a problem, how do I correct it ?

I am still unable to check md5sum. Most programs I got for this are not straightforward. What is a good program that helps to check md5sum easily ? Thanks.

Also what is an IDE card ? Thanks.

Vijay
