Someone mentioned on the LangaList Standard Edition that they put over the 
hole in the disc (but not over the data area) of regular CDs or CD-R/RWs, and 
cut out the hole area carefully with an knife and find that it protects the 
disc and prevents it from shattering dangerously (kind of like the way you 
put tape over a window in storms to strengthen it and prevent it from 
breaking into tiny shards). I don't know how well it works but I don't see 
how it could hurt.
