Hi Irfan,
  Under the covers they are quite different.  2.4 has each process
maintaining its own comm socket between deputy (home) and remote.

2.6 has a kernel daemon, kcomd, that manages all communications.
Processes create packets and add them to a per-process out_packs linked
list, then signal kcomd there is a packet that needs sending.  When
kcomd receives a packet is adds it to the correct process's in_packs
linked list.

Communication does not end at the nearest router.  Packets are routed to
full ip addresses, (ipv6 is even there but untested).

Study the 2.6 version.  I'm currently trying to finish kcomd and submit
patches for review/inclusion next week.
