I would highly recommend using make-kpkg to build your new Debian kernels in packaged form, and then using dpkg to install them. It will take care of most of the boot loader issues for you. You also end up with a nice .deb file that you can then install on the other cluster nodes with a minimum of fuss. This article does a good job explaining the process: http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/system/kernel-pkg.html#BUILD-KERNEL-PKG > By the way, I went back and reboot with an old working > kernal. The follwoing is the output: The file you want is in arch/i386/boot/bzImage, under your kernel compliation directory. Move it to your boot directory and give it a name starting with 'vmlinuz'. It sounds like you grabbed the uncompressed file by mistake. You *may* be able to do 'make install' from the kernel source directory and get what you want installed for you, but this is a generic installation routine that doesn't know about distribution- specific configuration stuff. I highly recommend using make-kpkg instead.
