 Is 2.4.26-1 stable for you on SMP?  I found it kernel-paniced and locked up
when I booted two dual Opterons with CHAOS (but using 2.4.26-1 that I'd
compiled; PXE) and ran the testapp (an infinite loop;  burnK7 from cpuburn
should probably do the same).

 Sorry I can't shed any light on your problem.
