kernel panic with 2.4.26

hi, I was tring to install 2.4.26 kernel with openMosix rpm. RPM was installed properly. When i started booting this new kernel i got the kernel panic message. kernel panic: VFS :unable to mount root fs on 03:46? What should i do? anybody help me to figure out.. I also try 2.6.15 kernel with openMosix . here i also got the kernel panic message..
