 The  openMosix kernel will replace your current kernel. There is
currently no way to patch a compiled kernel. Thus any patches have to
be applied to the source tree, which is then compiled. As a standard
practice and what is considered common knowledge for the target
audience it was never thought to be need in the FAQ.
  About your Suse 10, you may have trouble installing a 2.4 kernel on
to a 2.6 based system. This is becuase there are features in the 2.6
series kernel that are not in the 2.4 series that some distro's rely
on, Redhat Enterprise and Fedora Core are both good examples of this.
Currently the openMOsix 2.6 series patches are not ready for
production use.
