  You will need to build an initrd image. I am not sure exactly how to
do this  in FC5 as I have not yet looked at it( normlally run
Slackware). It should be standard across the Fedora line though. That
should solve teh boot problem. Keep an eye on the list and read up on
the openMOsix homepage about teh Userland tools. this is one of the
main issue with getting 2.6 ready for release.
