This is related to question 2.

OpenMosix a kernel patch and tools to use that patch. you will need to
install any MPICH or LAM-MPI type applications and libraries you will
need.

Mpirun is totally independant of openmosix. It used to doing
traditional parrellel programing. OpenMosix is doing Single system
Image clusters.

You do not need oMFS for MPI but you do need to haveeverything the MPI
programs need available to all nodes.
