resistant process

hi to all

i dont succeed to kill a process on a cluster node

kill -9 pid don't work
what can i do in order to kill it?
the process seems to be in Running state and unkillable


[root@comclust2 root]# ps ax |grep 104840
    104840 pts/1    R    1489:30 DIR_OBJ_IFC/symphonie

[root@comclust2 root]# kill -9 104840
[root@comclust2 root]# ps ax |grep 104840
    104840 pts/1    R    1489:50 DIR_OBJ_IFC/symphonie


some ideas welcome in order to understand and diagnostic
