I tried debian-3.0* which just failed in a weird way (nothing to do with
openssi) - it booted ok, recognised my cdrom, authenticated the contents,
then promptly failed with a message that it could not "read" my cdrom...

Brand new intel equipment - probably the reason, h/w is too new.

sigh.

Will try debian 3.1r2 now.  Which version did you use, Oyku?
