XEN+OpenSSI, big performace overhead?

I have talking with a friend about SSI clusters + XEN, then their view about it is: "Xen works below the kernel while SSI works at a much higher level in the kernel. Xen's main work is in virtualization management which is now supported at the processor level. Aggregating as a big system and partitioning will create big performance overhead and is inefficient. Instead you can create multiple partitions with SSI interface itself if you work on hot-plug of systems which allows you to dynamically re-configure your partitions" What you think about?
