I was one of those who asked Sruthi for that. My reasons included (copypaste from my email): * for many of us this is in the middle of holiday season ([other DD] just returned today and both he and me know of others who are in the same boat) * for some of us, the GR started at the end of the university semester which means that some of us had to concentrate on exams and some (like me) had to concentrate on creating and correcting exams (I just finished today) * me and [other DD] are pondering about adding another ballot option to the GR which tries to fill a spot which we both think is currently empty but we need a few more days to draft the text I just have sent a draft of the new ballot option which I consider adding to a few fellow DDs asking for review before I post it publicly. I did this in a rush just before Sruthi sent her mail about the extension of the discussion period. I was unable to concentrate on writing this up due to the exams I still had to grade. The discussion was indeed very useful and I would not've done this without the discussion and input from you and others. I can send the text to you as well if you would like to have a look but I'm not a very brave person so I'll post it to debian-vote once I feel a bit more confident about the proposed text. Thanks! cheers, josch
