I object to this statement. I filed bugs in the past so each piece 
of software can evaluate if it needs/wants changes. If a change is 
wanted/warranted/useful at all is in the hands of the software 
authors.

I'd expect that the ecosystem aligns on something that each software 
of a given class (f.e. "X terminal emulators") should do, but I 
really did not say "all X terminal emulators MUST integrate with 
wtmpdb".
