Good idea (too bad I haven't thought of that before...). I'll log it next time 
it happens.
I reinstalled the packages (removed them all, deleted .kde and .kderc and 
installed) and it haven't happened since.

However, what does happen is konqueror getting stuck - this happens quite 
often, afterwhich even if I kill it and restart it, I can't get it to work.
This is quite reproduceable - is this a know issue?

I think so. I've got:
deb ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian ../project/experimental main

in the source list, and the XFree version is 4.3.0-0pre1v1.
