I am running 2.6.0-test11 w/3.1.93 with no issues on
my desktop. I may be a problem with acpi on you
notebook. If you look at the finish portion of 3.2
http://developer.kde.org/development-versions/kde-3.2-features.html
they are adding ACPI stuff.
