missing link to /dev/scd0 after HD install

Hello,

Is there a known problem with a missing link (/dev/cdrom -> /dev/scd0) once 
the Knoppix is installed on the hard drive ?
I have been told by 2 different people about such an issue.
I can ask them to perform some commands to find out more about this if you 
want.
