new kernel fails to boot - run-parts issue?

Hi,

I am upgrading on my old iBook G3.... many months since I last did so. 
Due to the small HDD size (SDD) I update in chunks usually.

I installed the new kernel and it doesn't boot, initrd.img not found. 
Luckily "LinuxOld" booted, I installed more packages and can now see 
this issue:

I think this explains why the image was not correctly generated. But 
what is run-parts missing? Is a script missing? wrong? not updated?
