Liam's suggestion is excellent. ROX Desktop is sharp and totally fits with
Gobo's revamped directory tree. Other distros have benefitted from
distinctive hooks: LFS had a beautiful desktop for its LiveCD, DSL 3.3 put
Conky on the desktop, and TinyCore used Wbar for great Mac-like effect.

That's easy to suggest and hard to do, of course, but +1 anyway.
