ViewFS is largely orthogonal. There would be no links at all with it,
but without it everything in /usr/*/ would be a symlink, just like
now. bin would have the exact contents of Executables, and so on.

This:
    system/
      app/
      etc/
      home/
    common/
      app/
      etc/
      home/
    joe/
      app/
      etc/
(and the other one) comes up a lot and isn't really useful.
