Alpha install failures

Heya,

I've been reading through the archives and trying to fix my install issues
with the alpha, but they seem new so I'll share. I've attempted
installation on three platforms.

1) On a Dell XPS 15, via bootable USB: I think my problem here is probably
the fact that I'm trying to create a live USB. I used the alpha ISO and
syslinux to make a bootable USB and got it semi-working. The logo displays
and I select "Install Gobolinux," which gets me to a CLI version of Gobo. I
then get an error that the "CD-ROM" cannot be mounted. I did an fdisk -l
which told me that the only drive showing up is my harddrive (sda), which
gobo tried to mount and obviously failed. My USB does not show up at all in
fdisk. Is this because the early boot stages of Gobo do not have USB
support?

2) In Virtualbox (on the Dell XPS 15): I boot the ISO as a virtual CD-ROM
via Virtualbox, get to the install logo, and press enter to install. Some
initialization output runs across the screen, then the kernal panics (wow.
much fun. so panic.) For simplicity, I use all of virtualbox' default
settings.

3) In Virtualbox (on a MacBook Air): Same as above, but instead of the
kernel having a meltdown, the initialization actually completes. I get a
message telling me to either "startx" or "installer." I try "startx" and
get a working kde desktop, except that the background wallpaper is
completely black and there is no "Install GoboLinux" icon. I reboot and
this time try "installer" but get a message telling me the command is
unknown. I try various capitalizations and conjugations of the word but
none work. I navigate to Desktop via CLI and find that the "Install
GoboLinux" link is in the directory (not sure why it didn't show up in
KDE). I run "./Install\ GoboLinux" but get a permission denied. I had seen
in the archives a fix where you change su's name from gobo to root. I tried
this by going to /S/S/passwd as instructed in the email, but the directory
did not exist. I navigated to the Installer's bin directory in Programs and
tried to execute it manually but got an error. I should mention that
newlines were not displaying properly through all of this so output of
things like "ls" was all wonky. Between that and the fact that MacBook Airs
have no pageup or pagedown keys, I wasn't able to actually read the error.
But I'm pretty sure it was an error.
