startx was supposed to do the job for you. There is clearly something wrong
with the detection of some hardware component of your machine.

By default, 'startx' will read the contents of ~/.xinitrc and launch the
window manager of choice listed there. If you edit that file, you will
notice a line which invokes 'enlightenment_start'. Try to comment that line
out. That will cause twm to be executed by 'startx' instead of the default
desktop environment.

If that doesn't work, then please send me the contents of
/Data/Variable/log/Xorg.0.log. That file should contain the actual error
message.

Another thing that comes to mind is: if you have more than one machine
around, try to SSH to GoboLinux and to launch 'startx' from the remote
machine. Then you should be able to tell if the machine is really dead or
if that's just the video driver which crashed. Alternatively, you may try
to ping the GoboLinux machine as you invoke startx. That should also tell
you if the machine is still responding or not.
