CC issue

Hi all,

The installation went very well. Now I have an issue :-)

I tried to install a later gcc, 4.8.2, using Compile GCC.
"which gcc" returns a path including 4.8.2, but I'm not sure
the build/install completed properly.

Now when I try to compile something I get this error:

ldconfig: /lib/libstdc++.so.6.0.18-gdb.py is not an ELF
file, has wrong magic bytes at start.

Any suggestions where to go, or whether (and how) to
go back to the default gcc? Still finding my way around
the tool chain...

Also, I read that there is a GUI package manager, but
don't find it in the packaged software list. Is it
available and useful?

I had a look at the mailing list archives, but wasn't
able to search them due to some issue with the archive.
