No joy. I didn't see a "Starting X11..." message. Are we on the same
page? ...I installed Gobo into a VM. I'm not booting from the live CD.
Should I be booting from the live CD? Should I reinstall Gobo?

I boot the VM.
I see "GoboLinux" in pseudo-pixelated, colored letters.
I see some lines of text fly by below the letters.
The screen is blanked.
The "GoboLinux" letters reappear.
I see more lines of text fly by below the letters.
Some of the lines of text in this second display say "Error", but
they're moving and are up for less than 1/2 second, so aside from saying
"Error", I have no idea what they say.
The tty prompt is displayed and I'm prompted for login.
After I log in I submit "startx" and that's when the screen blanks and
I'm left with the mouse cursor at the center of a gray screen and the
mouse doesn't work, the keyboard appears not to work.
