Hi,

How are you copying the ISO to the USB drive? It should work with a bare
"dd if=/path/to/file.iso of=/dev/sdX", where sdX represents the full device
(as opposed to its first partition).

If that's what you're doing already, then you may want to try to boot with
the "rootwait" parameter. Hopefully that helps.
