So here comes another short abstract about "rocket search":
"rocket" is the high-level package manager used in rock and is using "mine"
and some shellscript logic as backend. It can be used to perform builds
from source as well as installing pre-compiled binaries from "gem pools" on
the internet.
one of the planed features in "rocket" is "rocket search". It's purpose is
to search all available sources (cached packages.db from gem pools as well
as package descriptions in the local source tree) for keywords.
since atm there is no way of accessing the flist of a package before
building it, it would only be possible to search for files in packages
which are built already (i.e. gem files from the gem pools).
when we add a list of generated binaries and libraries to the .cache as
proposed in the "amd64 and -fPIC" thread, "rocket search" would also be
able to search for the names of binaries in libraries in packages without
having access to pre-built binaries..
I hope that answers blindcoders questions.
yours,
- clifford
