bootsplash / EPP

Hi,

some of you might have noticed avm/bootsplash a while ago. I haven't
sent updates for some time, and I bet the patches don't apply any more.
For the bootsplash project seems deceased, I found
http://www.bootsplash.de/ which seems to continue the effort of porting
the patches to future kernel releases.

Now on the recent kernel-traffic I found a pointer to the EPP project
http://elpp.foofighter.de/ . This project apparently does the same.

My confession is that I never saw the bootsplash thing working, although
it always built fine. Maybe I have not the required hardware to use it,
or I just have not used the correct framebuffer driver. So my question
is: has it ever worked for anybody?
And further, as I want to have at least one of it, are there votes
pro/con one of both, or shall I try to include both?

Ciao

Andreas
