can you be more specific? What hardware was that? I will try tomorrow 
the ATI drivers on a Radeon 9200. I will test things like Chromium and 
some other OpenGL stuff.
What I expect is a lockup when you close the session, but thats not a 
problem from Xorg but from the ATI drivers (have it here with Xorg 6.8.1 
and also know problems with xfree).
The second test will catch the NVIDIA part with Geforce 2 GTS.

Base hardware is a Asus A7V133 (512MB Infineon RAM) - Athlon TB 1000MHz 
(I know I need new hardware but let's hope for this year).

If I also recognize some strange behaviour, we should perhaps update 
directly from 6.8.1 to 6.8.3. Otherwise let's discuss ;-). At the moment 
I know only from you (daja) that you had problems with the 6.8.2 
release. The rest was very quiet about this release.
