There is a problem with recent sm checkouts building the 2.6 kernel. The build process is getting stuck in a loop during "make oldconfig". A strace of the looping process (7924) reveals repeated write(1, "Kernel log buffer size (16 => 64"..., 75) = 75 7255 pts/3 S+ 0:00 | | \_ /bin/bash ./scripts/Build-Pkg -this_is_the_2nd_run -3 -cfg alanwXP -root auto -chroot -id <snip> 7872 pts/3 S+ 0:01 | | \_ yes 7873 pts/3 S+ 0:00 | | \_ /bin/bash ./scripts/Build-Pkg -this_is_the_2nd_run -3 -cfg alanwXP -root auto -chroot -id <snip> 7874 pts/3 S+ 0:00 | | \_ make ARCH=i386 CROSS_COMPILE= KCC=kcc-34 oldconfig 7923 pts/3 S+ 0:00 | | \_ make ARCH=i386 CROSS_COMPILE= KCC=kcc-34 -f scripts/Makefile.build obj=scripts/kconfig oldconfig 7924 pts/3 R+ 0:32 | | \_ scripts/kconfig/conf -o arch/i386/Kconfig -- Alan J.
