For which package in which stage does this happen?

Not in all fine details. ROCK shoudl be buildable on any
well-functional standard compliant distribution with developer tools
(gcc, binutils, sed, awk, ...) installed. oThe most common problems are:

 - old bash
 - defect mktemp
 - too old (two years old) sed
 - defect glibc (at least debian testing qualified as this two days ago
   on IRC #rocklinux)

The only problems I have seen before are: bash, sed and mktemp not
beeing recent.

The obvious things are tested in scripts/Check-System. If people
encoutner problems they should mail us so we can either work around or
update Check-System.

Yes - we should document this a bit more in the Handbook.
