I should have been more specific than

> make
> make install

I also have to issue the commands
uname -r
to find out what version of the kernel is in use and then run a script called
Install_All which requires the symlink linux to refer to the kernel source
directory, eg

./Install_All linux-2.4.25

I have read that PPPoE is supported, because my modem is PPPoA the modem
install also installs a PPPoA stack it can access, as I`m so used to SUSE 9.0
and earlier I just really would like to check I can still install the
tarballs in the same way.

Normally when I install it as root I can su and use it from non root desktop
via a terminal, will that still work?

Thanks,
