I didn't have a problem with slack 8.1 at all with aacraid.. just boot
from cd.. select alternative kernels (one of the FXX buttons) and select
raid.s kernel..   I then upgraded to 2.4.20 and smooth as ever since
then..  Slack 9 raid.s should work just a well..
