We have a PE1650 and a PE2650 with PERC3-DI ROMB cards and I wanted to test if the RAID-5 array would still work with a drive removed and I got a lots of controller errors and the system wouldn't boot afterwards. Though when I put the drive back in and the array finished rebuilding it worked like it never had a drive removed. I thought that RAID-5 would allow a drive to fail and still be up and running. Rebuilding the array with 3 36Gb 15000RPM HDs took almost a full day so I can imagine how long it would take if a drive in an array with 3 146Gb HDs was to fail... Is there something that can be done for this? Is anybody aware of the problem? Is somebody working on fixing this? I can have the PE1650 with 3 36GB HDs free next week to make some tests if somebody wants me too. BTW the system is running kernel 2.4.20 Jean-Rene Cormier _______________________________________________ Linux-aacraid-devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-aacraid-devel Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq or search the list archives at http://lists.us.dell.com/htdig/
