...SCSI Hang ?

Hi guys, 

Just got back from rebooting our mail server again.  It's been a while since
i've
posted on here and i'm a little sleepless so bear with me, but I think I
read on 
here that we were awaiting a firmware update to correct the  timeout / take
the 
volume offline / freakout your system aacraid driver issue?

This is what I get from a "controller details" in afacli:

My main question right now is does anyone know of a way to recover the
system 
remotely?  When this particular error crops up the server essentially hangs.

Although I can log in and run any command that does not access the hung
volume
I cannot reboot or shutdown or telinit as all the processes that were
accessing the
hung volume are now "frozen" and it seems the only solution is to power
cycle 
the equipment.  I do not have a remote power off system on this server at
this time
so when this happens I have to drive in to our server room at whatever time
of day
to reboot it and recover from any issues.  This, needless to say, is a
hassle.

I've been thinking of modifying our mail delivery agent and popmail software
to 
sleep() their processes if the load get's too high to try and prevent the
controller
from being pushed over the edge, but I don't know if it would really work or
cause
more issues than it's worth.  I know sendmail already contains high load
limiting
features.  Since most of these seem to happen for me at early in the morning
I 
am also going to check what disk intensive cron jobs might be running
simultaneously that I may or may not be able to stagger.

Any help or etr's would be appreciated,
