Resending this since the previous message appears lost in space ..

I did some more digging around:
A "container set cache /read_cache_enable=TRUE 0" does change
the "Global Container Read Cache Size" to something other than 0.

The other day a rebooted the machine and now "Global Container Read Cache Size"
is back to 0.

Someone at Dell support told me that size 0 means that the read cache is dynamically
adjusted as needed by the adapter. He was very vauge about it, so I am not sure what to think.

Can someone tell me what size 0 mean? Has it dynamic properties or is it just
a bug which disables the readahead cache?

Finally, "hdparam -t /dev/sda" reports 45 MB/sec(10 runs when server is idle).
Is this normal? Seems a bit low to me.
This is on a PE4400, PERC3/Di, RAID5 with 6 disks, Pentium III 860MHz.
