Hi, We've been experiencing problems with one of our PowerEdge 2650 servers. We use Debian 3.0 (latest stable set of packages + security updates). The same problem has occurred with 2.4.18 and 2.4.20, and has persisted even after a Dell engineer replaced the SCSI backplane and one of the drives. We see errors like this on the system console: ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-18 22:50:39 (Mar/18/03) --\n\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:28:26 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:ID(0:04:0) Timeout det ected on cmd[0x28] ^Maacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeout Detected On 227 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:28:31 (Mar/19/03) --\n\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:28:36 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeo ut Detected On 207 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:28:41 (Mar/19/03) --\n\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:28:46 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeo ut Detected On 221 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:28:51 (Mar/19/03) --\n\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:28:56 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:ID(0:04:0) Timeout det ected on cmd[0x2a] ^Maacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeout Detected On 231 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:01 (Mar/19/03) --\n\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:06 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeo ut Detected On 239 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:11 (Mar/19/03) --\n\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:16 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeo ut Detected On 220 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:21 (Mar/19/03) --\n\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:26 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeo ut Detected On 231 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:31 (Mar/19/03) --\n\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:36 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeo ut Detected On 216 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:41 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid:SCSI Channel[0]: Timeout Detected On 213 Command(s) ^M\n-- 2:ford -- time-stamp -- 2003-03-19 19:29:50 (Mar/19/03) --\naacraid: Host adapter reset request. SCSI hang ? ^Maacraid:ID(0:04:0) Timeout detected on cmd[0x2a] The machine usually operates fine for a period of days or weeks, then errors like this start to build up until the machine finally locks up. It's running a MySQL database and there's a large amount of disk access, both read and write. Does anyone have a solution to this? Does it seem like a problem with the driver, the RAID card, the disk, or what? ____________________________________ Adam Newby IT Manager NewsNow Publishing Limited Tel: +44 (0)20 7471 0400 ____________________________________ http://www.NewsNow.co.uk Online Media Monitoring Receive fast updating news about your company, competitors, industry, products, clients & prospects ____________________________________ _______________________________________________ Linux-aacraid-devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.us.dell.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-aacraid-devel Please read the FAQ at http://lists.us.dell.com/faq or search the list archives at http://lists.us.dell.com/htdig/
