The aacraid driver and firmware don't presently allow for legacy disks (i.e. non-RAID-member disks) to be made visible to the OS as separate disks. Work is in progress to allow non-disk devices (tapes, hot plug backplane controllers, etc) to be made visible to the OS, but there isn't presently any intention to make legacy disks visible. You can make a single disk into its own container via afacli, which will then be made visible to the OS. Or you can put the disk on an add-in SCSI adapter like a Adaptec 39160.
