Hi,
A PE 1650 has an external SCSI connector which we'd like to use to
connect to 1 2.2TB disk array (which will appear as two 1.1TB disks) on
Linux.
The BIOS fails to accept their size. Splitting them into 3-400G
slices and them recombining them as a volume works, but I'm told the BIOS
crashed during some operations.
Will an updated BIOS help? There's one on the Dell website, but no
release notes. Is there a performance penalty in the setup above, or would
it be a hell of a lot simpler to buy a cheap Adaptec 29160LP and forget
about using the PERC card?
Thanks,
Richard
