This may be one of the new problems we are having, as Joerg mentioned 
above, the usb_reset_device is actually working in newer kernels, 
whereas until recently, at76c503a was expecting it not to work.

Until we can solve this problem, I recommend unplugging the device then 
plugging it back in, either as you are rebooting, or just before you 
raise the interface with iwconfig etc.

You may need to do this even if your previous boot was linux (not windows).
