at76c503 does not work with kernel 2.6.9

Hi,

i was using the at76c503 successfully with gentoo, kernel 2.6.7.
after migrating to kernel version 2.6.9 the driver did not load. i got 
the latest driver from cvs yesterday but it refuses to load. i am using 
a netgear ma101b usb adapter.
dmesg tells me tht the following went wrong:

at76c503: disagrees about version of symbol usbdfu_download
at76c503: Unknown symbol usbdfu_download

can anybody help me to resolve this problem?
