Hello all I've pb with my wireless USB adapter. After few hours of reading docs and pages on web, deployment on kernel sources and solving some links problems, I managed to do sucessfull driver compilation and deployment (no more errors). I've successfully connected to another wifi client in ad-hoc mode, getting 90% signal strength and zero packet loss. After some short time of happyness, I've found out that after I tranfer some data (50-100 MB max) wireless connection slows down drastically, sometimes it gets interrupted completely. It stays so until I reconnect. I'm using Fedora core 5, latest kernel 2.6.17-1.2157_FC and 0.13 version of Berlios driver. I didn't understand that firmware part on docs completely - there isn't hotplug in Fedora core 5, there is udev instead. But I haven't found any information how to make udev act instead od hotplug. I've tried to load firmware using utility atmel_fw.pl, but I got error, wlan0 is not an Atmel interface at /usr/sbin/atmel_fwl line 35. I'm quite sure that it is atmel (it's written on chip and drivers work), I've tried to resolve this pb, but I do not know perl enough. Other thing is - that I do not know if use of this firmware could fix my pb with interupted connection. Next step should be pasting of some logs, but I haven't found much of interrest, only this: /var/log/messages [initialization of device] Jul 18 00:13:18 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76_usbdfu.c: USB Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) handler v0.13-static loading Jul 18 00:13:18 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503.c: Generic Atmel at76c503/at76c505 routines v0.13-static Jul 18 00:13:18 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503-fw_skel.c: Atmel at76c503 (RFMD) Wireless LAN Driver v0.13-static loading Jul 18 00:13:18 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503.c: $Id: at76c503.c,v 1.84 2006/06/22 21:09:23 agx Exp $ compiled Jul 17 2006 21:05:40 Jul 18 00:13:18 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503.c: firmware version 1.101.2 #84 (fcs_len 4) Jul 18 00:13:18 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503.c: device's MAC 00:e0:98:a5:6c:ad, regulatory domain ETSI (Europe - (Spain+France) (id 48) Jul 18 00:13:18 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503.c: registered wlan0 Jul 18 00:13:18 maru kernel: usbcore: registered new driver at76c503-rfmd [some of these messages] Jul 18 00:13:20 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503.c: using BSSID 02:00:03:a0:bc:47 Jul 18 00:40:00 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503.c: using BSSID 02:00:34:1f:d8:a7 [and few these, but they are correct] Jul 18 01:03:51 maru kernel: /tmp/src/at76c503a/at76c503.c: wlan0: lost beacon bssid 02:00:34:1f:d8:a7 ... I should be able to send any info you may need, including debug. Just ask please I've seen some posts similar to my pb, but without any answer. Maybe I overlooked something or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Do you have any idea? Thank you Eridan [email protected] eri dan [email protected]
