no, your eyes are loosing strength:
_ifconfig_, not _iwconfig_ (see above).

You previously asked about "dhcp" - haven't got any experience, but IMHO
dhcp opens the netdev as well. The "ifconfig" line should just allow to
let the debug setting become active to get info about the original
problem.
